Readable fonts for contractor signs
A contractor sign often has only a moment to communicate a name and a service. Make the important information readable before adding decoration.
Use condensed lettering deliberately
Oswald can fit a short headline into a narrow sign. Bebas Neue offers strong uppercase lettering for a name or service. Neither should be your default for paragraphs or every line on a vehicle.
Make contact details easy to read
Pair a bold headline with Inter for the phone number, website, and service area. Use a clear weight and enough space around the text. Keep the number together instead of breaking it across lines.
Check from a distance
Print a small version of the proposed sign and step back. Compare letters and numbers that can look alike. A simple composition with high contrast is more useful than an elaborate treatment that blurs at a distance.
Carry the system onto the website
Use the same heading and body families online, but size them for reading. Keep all-caps treatments for short labels, and use normal capitalization for service explanations.
